Speed control for a Bandsaw? Mine has three speeds and I've only ever used one…

Mine has three, and I've used 2. Slowest (steel), and fastest (wood). OK, as a wood saw (with an appropriate blade) my Clarke 6×4 bandsaw is not good, but it's better than not having one.

          Regards,

          Richard.

To pick up from were we left, I was not entirely convinced by the seller telling me it had a brushless motor, so I contacted the manufaturer and asked for information regarding the motor – the motor is a permanent magnet DC brushed motor with variable speed control, brushes are expected to last 1500hrs. They also claimed the motor is extremely silent (which is a good thing for me as my workshop is in a basement under my house) Based on this information and positive reviews on Italian forums when comparing the Nebes to Femi bandsaws I placed the order for a Nebes TM101 from Italy.

I received the bandsaw yesterday, first impressions is it's a well built little saw. Took a couple of cuts on a 40mm steel round bar – cut clean with a good finish and straight. Their claim of being silent is also confirmed.

The real test will come later on when I'll start chopping up 2×2" box section for 3 benches
