Marking out frames

When marking out frames, what is the best way to mark a radius when the centre falls outside the frames.

Clamp the frame and a bit of similar thickness scrap metal down to the bench etc and mark the centre in the scrap, dot punch and mark your arc.

 

You could also use the other frame as the scrap just putting teh punch mark in a bit that will be cut away later.

Not an answer to your question but, i was in Poundland yesterday and they have some meter steel rules for, yes a quid.

 

I opened one and had a look down its length and they look pretty good
