Keyless chuck so tight can get hole way out

I used a hole saw in my keyless chuck, now its so tight I cant get it out,

Any ideas that do not involve a hammer

Have you tried a strap wrench around the chuck body?

Angle grinder? Not a hammer…

The other thought is a stilson or chain wrench, water pump pliars, mole grip, something where it grips hard and you do the twist.

Carver clamps always made good chuck keys when I worked in the Toolroom

Drill a hole through a piece of wood, that is as thick as where you want to grip or more, a bit smaller than the grip area. Then saw the piece longways through the center of the hole. Now you can grip the chuck in a vise without damaging the chuck!

I found this which worked, shap tap with a copper mallet and it freed. This has put me off keyless chucks tho.

Don't let it put you off them but bear in mind that most of them will tighten when loaded. A large dia holesaw has quite a bit of leverage so will make the jaws tighten up. Also if your saw arbor was hexagonal as most are it will just keep putting more load onto the jaws whereas a drill bit will spin in the jaws.

I did wonder about the arbor being hex and the saw teeth putting quite a load on the chuck

Slightly O.T.

I have a Clarke Metal Worker drill press, always had bother with the keyed chuck, lack of grip.

Since reading the posts about using all the positions to tighten the chuck, its been fine. Thank you.
