inverter

Hi all,I have just bought a Colchester student 1800.I would like to know what would be the recommended inverter to use.The motor has at sometime been changed to a dual voltage single speed 2.2 kw 3 HP.Sorry if this has been asked before,I have looked at previous post's on this subject but didn't find what I was looking for.

Hello Richard

Welcome to the forum. You will need a VFD that can deliver 2.2kW and wire the motor to run at 240V delta.

I have recently converted my Harrison M300 2.2kw 3hp with similar single speed motor using the Teco 2.2kw 230v single phase to 230v 3 phase Inverter EV series from Direct Drives.

I'm no expert ! but I altered the connections on a friends lathe motor from star to delta and fitted Huanyang 2.2 KW inverter which cost £90.40 via ebay, it was here in 4 days obviously not direct from PRC but some where here in UK. I have kept a copy of the programming should you or anyone else like a copy.I also I altered the lathe coolant pump so that it runs independently from a 240 volt supply, by reconnecting the motor to delta and then fitted, I think a 4 micro farad capacitor ex fluorescent lighting one. John
