Morning, I need to slightly increase the size of a 5mm allen key hole on some parts. I think I've seen a hexagonal file somewhere which was meant to do this job, but can't find it now / remember what it was called?!

        It's a through hole.

        Thanks.

I have had a look and cant find any hex files. Last place of work I never came across any and we had many weird and wonderful specimens.

Just put a flat pillar file down the hole and file each flat in rotation.

            Hi Chris,
Are you sure you didn't misinterptret then term "Hex file" (As I did but the opposite way round when I saw the title of your thread.) and assume it was referring to a file to cut metal ?

            Les.

Or are you thinking of these: hexagon-broaches

              Neil

              P.S. the 5mm one is a snip at £243…

Sounds like you need one of them hexagon drills (again).

These may be what you are looking for, but I bet you won't like the price – perhaps ask for a sample if your German is up to it.

Look at the Losenge shape. This is not Hex, but it looks like a 120 degree angle – they come in boxes of 10!! – share them with your friends perhaps??

Make it easy on yourself and click on the English tab – Sorry, I did not see that at first.

Try using a three square swiss file and cut one face of the hexagon at a time.

I too thought it was a computer file. They give really nice edges to a sharp contrast monitor. devil

I would just use a good old fashioned needle file and be done with it.

Thanks for the replies, I just used a needle file in the end!
