Hi,
I've been reading about normalising steel before machining, I'm about to make a start on a pair of pony truck frames that have been laser cut.
Should I heat treat (normalise ) the frames as they need two bends/curves formed to make a gentle 'Z' shape to attach the pivot bearing to the loco.
Also would it be worth milling a line few thou. (.010/.020" deep) on the inside of each bend about 1/16" wide to make sure the bends are square to the frames, as the compressed metal will form a bulge and maybe over stretch the outside surface.
Is anyone building or built a SR Mogul 260 'Ashford' by Martin Evans?
