I visited the show today, and had a very enjoyable day there. I fiddled with some of the machinery I fancy buying, and spent about £100 on some new tooling and a boring table. So I went home with a much heavier bag.

Had a nice lunch upstairs, on a cardboard plate with a wooden knife and fork.

Chester had a larger display of machinery there than they have had in recent previous shows I have visited.

It's still a good show, and well worth a visit. I would like to go again on Saturday or Sunday but just can't get away.

I went today, some great work on display from the clubs – very inspiring for me. The venue isn’t as good as Harrogate I don’t think – feels cramped and like it’s a smaller show.

Went yesterday, (Friday) at opening time

Good show, Warco not present, but Chester had a good stand, Rgb And Myford had a big stand but Agree with Andrew on show size does seem smaller somehow, but I got most of what I wanted OK.

                Bought too much

                Spent too much

I went to Doncaster show yesterday and admired the models on show. I think the venue is far superior to Harrogate, very clean toilets and plenty of them, the upstairs food area is much bigger and tidier. The only problem was the people leaving rubbish about in spite of there being plenty of rubbish bins around, don't blame the youngsters, I didn't see any. Also the parking is much better than Harrogate. All in all a good show and good venue.John

I Agree regarding comments about Doncaster being better than Harrogate. It is in a bigger hall compared to Harrogate with higher ceilings and significantly better facilities. I was there on Friday and enjoyed the models on display and spent a few bob in the process. But went home happy. Alan.

Also my thanks to people from the various clubs who made the effort to bring such great models to the show. I know it’s a big commitment but it does really inspire me and give me ideas for future projects.

Doncaster gets a plus from me & i drove 183 miles each way to get there

bought some metal but really just enjoyed the models & admired the skills

I also paid a visit to the show yesterday plenty of good tooling to browse

bought some lathe tools & some spare tips, looked on the Chester stand interested in their 626 turret mill but very

Impressed with the super lux mill the quality so much superior to the 626 & a much larger machine & comes with

a fitted DRO bigger table etc plus free delivery Tony also chucked in 150mm vice no brainer so ordered one, just got to break it to the wife think I will treat her to mars bar & a cup of tea to soften the blow that might be coming my way. Great day out though

I Agree regarding comments about Doncaster being better than Harrogate.

Maybe better than Harrogate as you remember it from the last ME Show, but not now after it has been redeveloped. I was there last weekend for the Northern Shooting Show & can see why the cost of hiring the venue has increased – the replacement for the rather dingy hall that used to house the model boat pond & most club stands is bright, airy & about 4 times the size it used to be. And there is another cafe at the far end of the new hall as well as the "between the halls" original, as well as extensive outdoor catering on a piazza that I don't recall being there before. Still no easier to get in though – 2 mile que at 8.15 for a show that opened the doors at 8.30.

After seeing the exhibitor list for Doncaster, I chose the NSS instead this year – maybe reconsider next year, depending on who (trade-wise) can be enticed to attend.

                                Interesting point.

What is the cost to exhibit?

I only ask for interest. My company will be exhibiting at the PPMA show in September at the NEC and that will cost us 20k

Went to show today, and I thought it was pretty good, although a bit heavy on locos and light on clocks etc. Went by train, which even for 2 of us was cheaper than car. Going was a good trip, but coming back was one of those horrible 4 wheel contraptions. Seats like a 1960's bus and I can't even sit straight without my knees crunched into the seat in front. Why we in the North West have to put up with those abominations is beyond me. Took an hour longer coming back than going.

Hi, I went today, and thought it a good show also, although like last year, then number of exhibits overall was down compared with Harrogate. The best thing about Doncaster though it's an hour's less drive both ways for me and car parking was a lot better this year. I got a few bits and pieces that I wanted, but spent less money than at other shows, just a pity Warco wasn't there as I often buy odd bits from there tooling.

                                    Regards Nick.

Any reason why online tickets are no longer available ? …

No need to buy tickets- it seems from Anthony's post that the police give them away for nothing.

The pictures were taken towards the end of the show on Sunday when most of the public had left, otherwise it seemed to be very busy during the day but it was easy to move around because of the wide aisles meaning passing room for rucksacks!

Many years ago a visit to the Great Yorkshire Show was a must for rural Yorkshiremen. I remember when the previous buildings were new, and that is at least 60 years ago. No wonder it was time to replace them
