Do you recognize these?

I bought a nice wooden case at a car booty last year which contained amongst other bits some items from what appeared to be an abandoned horology project. Among it all were these four, two in steel and two in brass.

All four can be interlocked with a superbly precise fit. Superb workmanship but for what purpose? —– Rik

Possibly an engineering student exercise of some sort. Perhaps a brain teaser puzzle for an engineer waiting for his kettle to boil.
