      Gentlemen,

I am having difficulty finding a supplier for these useful clamps. This is bound to have been asked before, but can anyone please give me a compass point to pursue? These are the clamps that close round the object and have one tightening screw to close the jaws

      Thank you

      Brian

Thank you Jason, but that route dries up in the sand after one reply, so I am no further forward.

On Reply? there are two pages of links to similar clamps

Try folowing up the MSC/J&L links that I and one of the other posters put up, they are broken over time but a bit of effort will find a clamp of similar design to the non available crab ones

open this and go to page 793

Also from that old thread, these

Have you tried Axminster Tools (axminster.co.uk) I notice they seem to keep a very large range of clamps?

Not sure if they might be called something different to crab on there.

Brian, Go to CMC, they are the originators of the "KANT TWIST " style. Still in production.

Thank you all for the help,

I ordered from MSC in the end, they call them quick release welding clamps, but the items are still crab clamps in action and design. The cost with delivery for one off 6.5 inch jaw capacity unit is just over £32 which I thought was very realistic.

                    Thank you again

                    Brian

I have a couple of these in red paint which are the genuine 'crab' clamp as mentioned above. Unfortunately one has damaged jaws due to my using it for welding and not realising the jaws are made from blackened aluminium. /They are a touch large for clock making so i might make up some smaller ones from s/s as they are VERY useful.
