I have a 8500 series C-C and some parts are missing. It has a separate feed rod and lead screw. The seal or assembly is missing on both sides of the Apron allowing oil to leak out. I have nothing to reverse engineer. The oil level is higher than the bottom of the seal. How are the feed rods sealed on other lathes? This as a key way full length of the shaft. Factory parts are worth the Queens jewels, the manual does not have a picture. Any one know how other brands of lathes seal the shaft up? Thanks, Mark.

Common method is a sleeve bored to a nice fit on the rod with a parallel key fixed inside to fill up the slot. Seal runs on sleeve. Key holds back nearly all of the oil. Hafta accept a small weep when left standing for some time but at least it ensures the keyway is kept oil wet.
