Clarke CL500M Mounting Dimensions

Am helping a friend to set up his CL500M. I want to mount it on two pieces of box section, on a substantial bench, to set it up with no twist in the bed.

The manual does not show the dimensions for location of the mounting holes, and the Machine Mart Technical Dept are unable to provide the info. from their data.

Can anyone please help?

Hello Howard,

I own a CL430, which is basically the same without the mill head and i've bolted it to a bench so i could probably go and measure the distances. I can't garuantee they'll be completely accurate because when i put it on my bench i just pointed a power drill down the hole and bolted it to where ever it came out the other side!

I'll get back to you with that.

Right, so i've gone and measured with a tape measure, to get 7" inches across and 21.5" inches longways, thats without taking the centres into account, the bolts are M10 so minus the radius of both those holes, is 7 inches (177.8mm) -10mm would be 167.8mm between centres.

For long ways of 21.5", just doing the same 546.1mm -10mm to give 536.1mm between centres, there was a beam in the way with this one so i'm a bit unsure about how accurate thatll be.

Hope that gives you a ballpark.

Now to go and look for two lengths of suitable box section on which to mount it.

We'll need some M10 studding and nuts, so that it can be set up level in both planes. Less worried about Head to Tail, but keen to make sure that the bed is not twisted, so that it turns parallel..
