Brownie points, who needs them,  but if you are a little low on credits and you MIG weld with throw away gas cylinders, cut a tapered slice out of an empty bottle (Usual cautions apply) and knock up one or two of these garden tools.  They are ideal for digging dandelions  out of the lawn, planting seedlings etc etc.  Use a thin cutting disc in the angle grinder to cut the bottle and don’t worry about a few wood shavings on your precious ML7 that you have meticulously painted when you make the handle.

        Now he tells me!

Threw out a couple last month that I’d been saving for mumble-mumble years after I went to proper gas bottles ‘cos they were bound to come in handy for something.

        Always the way.

Just keep your eyes open for discarded laughing gas cylinders. The brain-dead chuck them out of car windows after softening their minuscule brains even further and the cylinders I’ve picked up are 70mm diameter and 2mm thick. They do vary in construction; the last one I had had a brass non-return valve screwed into the top which easily unscrewed (‘case it comes in useful). Others can’t be unscrewed. They’re not usually solid drawn tube but ERW.
