I have two sets of plans for a 5" king. One by Keith Wilson (dated 1959) and the other by James Perrier (dated 1975). Can anyone please advise me as to which set I should use as there are a number of differences in the frames of both the engine and the tender or have these drawings been taken from different locomotives. I know that that Keith Wilson's is based on King John,

      Any help would be appreciated.>>

I'm doing the Perrier version (very slowly). Just one comment if you are envisioning taking a very long time completing possibly Blackgates would be more likely to be able to provide support on into the future (decades?). No reflection in GLR but they almost disappeared recently to emerge again in London as a web based business. So at the moment I would have thought Blackgates looks more solid. If you buy all your castings in one hit however you may not be worried.

          regards Martin

Many thanks that is good advice. I started using the Keith Wilson plans but then purchased the James Perrier plans at a recent exhibition and noticed a few anomalies between the two drawing’s but have now decided to go down the JP route.

Anyone know what the actual differences are between the Wilson and Perrier drawings?

Also did anyone know an Alan Stevens of Kingsteignton in South Devon who built 5” King Class in the mid 80s?

              Thanks, Paul

I see it's probably time to retract my comment on GLR (actually my favourite metal supplier). I'm pleased to say they are well established in London and seem to be going strong.

                regards Martin
