Hello . I have taken over a half built 2 inch scale traction engine . The boiler has a 1/8 thick plate soldered where the cylinder will fit . My question is how do I thread the plate to fit the studs with out going right through into the boiler ? None of the plans or books I have read explain that , or am I being stupid and missing something

        regards Phil

Drill right through and tap, you don't need blind holes. A smear of sealant on the studs as they go in should stop any leaks.

Just be careful as the drill brakes through that it is not pulled in and catched a tube.

oh Thanks , as simple as that ! I assumed that after you had tested the boiler you wouldn't want to drill holes in it again Showing my ignorance again sorry

            regards Phil
