Many years ago, I considered grinding my own mirror for an astronomical telescope. I got a lot of books from the library, some of which covered telescopes in general .In of these was a refracting telescope that had a matte black cone positioned at the primary focus, with a base diameter dimensioned to obcsure the sun's disc and just project (or view with suitable filters) the corona. I am unable to find any reference to it now. Does anyone know of such a thing, and how well did it work please?
