Listing of gear cutters for sale

I paid a visit to the For Sale ads (Miscellaneous items) today to do a little tidying up of my entry and found to my complete surprise that the entire listing had vanished.

This was not something I had actioned, so some other agency is at work here

        My questions are
1 Is there a time limit for entries to remain open?
2 If that is the case, where are the terms and conditions governing these matters?
3 Is the entry just scrapped, or is there a route for appeal?

        Any answers please?

        Brian

1 They disappear after six months.

2 The general T&Cs which are linked to on every page plus the non-commercial condition.

3 If it's gone its gone.

I presume either it timed out, a moderator thought it was a commercial ad and pulled it, its the victim of a glitch or you cancelled it by accident.

            Brian,

If its any consolation, I don't reply to ads either For Sale or Wanted once they are more than 2 weeks old.

It's become pointless, as people don't bother to cancel their ads when they have sold/found what they wanted, so 90% of the time I've wasted my time.

May I hijack the thread to point out to Neil that there are another 2 Wanted ads (the latest 2) without any contact details.

Could this essential part of the ad not be made a "compulsory field" in the advert template?

Thank you Neil for explaining it, I imagine they timed out; I didn't note when they were placed for sale. The intention was to give the M E group the opportunity of first refusal. At £5 each they were not expensive, but sales were desperately slow, I sold one and had no further enquiries.

So as Neil says, the shop has closed now

Quite happy for the hi-jack, I could help one of them but without the means of contact it is a waste of time.

@Brian we have to have some housekeeping or the system would be clogged with out of date ads.

@Robbo I have emailed the advertiser asking him to edit his ads.

Yep, but many folks don't, unfortunately.

I have an advert but provided no contact details because I assumed, incorrectly it appears, that people would make contact by PM. I have since updated my details but am dreading a deluge of spam or nuisance phone calls. I'm not sure who can see these details.

                      Regards, Steve

                        Steve,

It has previously been established that only those who have posted on this forum can access the Classified ads.

With regards to contact by PM, there are people who use the ads but never post on threads.

Note that your email address doesn't appear in your ad, the system directs a responder to it.

People can only PM you if they can find one of your posts as you don't (or didn't) have a public profile. Not too easy to do as you have a relatively small number of posts.

We have two or three people a week complaining they can't see the contact details because we brought in the requirement that only established posters can see them.

So far, as far as I'm aware they have all been understanding, except one who went off in a huff.

                          Neil
