Dropbox is still working on XP!

I don't want to clutter thhe ER thread with unrelated stuff, but want to clarify something.

When reading what Dropbox sent out in this mail, they say that 'support for the desktop application for XP' has stopped – whatever that is.

However, at the end of the mail they write also, that one can still access Dropbox data 'from their website'.

That's what I did just some days ago. Log in on the website, and after getting accustomed to the forms I had no problems to upload some files. I think that could be important to know for other guys like me who stubbornly stay on XP.

Yes, you can still manually upload/download data to what was 'their' image of your local dropbox folder. It's just that the automated updating, or syncing' of the local and remote copies (which is what the dropbox program on your PC used to do) no longer takes place. You can still create links (for sharing) for files that you manually upload, and do all the other things that you used to do on their website.

Had similar problems, it seems that one of the major changes in Dropbox ending support for XP was to allow file extensions having more than 3 characters. Result is that anything I upload using XP can't be seen by someone using later Windows, and vice versa.

Computer is due for an upgrade anyway so Windows 7 should fix it. I refuse to go to anything newer than Windows 7 though (unless I am absolutely forced to!).
