Hi, having recently purchased a lathe, i wanted to improve the wiring! It came with a standard 3 pin plug wired direct to the motor, so you plug it in and it runs. I would like to add a switch, apart from being more convenient would make the lathe a lot safer! The motor is a Johnson, single phase, 1/3hp, 1425rpm. There are 4 wires coming out of the motor casing, 2 red ones which are joined together, and 2 black ones connected to the live/neutral. Does anyone know if its possible to reverse this motor? If it is I have a reversing switch I oculd wire up if I knew which wires needed connecting for each direction. I tried swapping the live/neutral on the 2 black wires but it made no difference at all! Anyone got any ideas? Thanks very much, Matt
