Every time I enter Return, the curser jumps to the beginning of a post I'm typing, and I then have to reposition it below.

The next line is there waiting to be typed on, but blank.

I've checked other forums (fori?), but they do not exhibit this annoying problem.

Geoff – *+^#~$ software! Add your own expletive/s!

Thanks for holding your hand up and admitting that it was you who broke it, Geoff

This doesn't happen on my PC, except when inserting a picture.

I've reported this to Katy, but it may relate to a software update as another user has seen this, and another one or two in the past, but I don't think any changes have been made to the website over the weekend.

Do you have an i-product, Geoff? It seems commoner with apple stuff.

            Obviously very annoying, Geoff

So much so, that you appear to have started two threads.

Apparently this is a know issue with iOS.

There is a fix and which will be applied to the forum, but it will also mean major changes including to the photo upload and smiley systems, This means it isn't going to be rushed into.

                Neil,

Oops, thought I had mentioned – Brain Fade to the fore! (More on that to follow in my thread)

                iPad 3 with iOS 8.1.1

I'm afraid that Jony appears more interested in form over function with hardware, and now software since he took control.

Very very slow upload has meant my first post was duplicated, sorry.

Could you include my second post from that duplicate here please, and delete duplicate?

                MichaelG,

When a week starts like this, one become not a little apprehensive of what may follow.

Geoff – What a way to start last month of year!

                Edit:

Neil your second post just confirms my thoughts and statement.

Same hardware as Geoff and OS, and same problem.

                    Yep

I'm ( a new member) of the fruit fraternity – in my case the version is iMAC and OS X Yosemite. The " return to go" fault is VERY annoying – especially as my typing skills demand that I look at the keyboard and so all sorts of strange messages occur if a carriage return is made.

I'm a bit surprised that the "technical" site staff were not aware of this. I thought that the whole of the graphics / art world were Apple users. That is certainly the case with my graphic designer son and also with the other son who is an artist.

I guess the trick is to press the down arrow rather than the carriage return to start a new paragraph but that's probably a bad habit to get into.

Damn ! I did it again*******!!

                    Regards

                    Norman

They are aware, but it's not a case of a simple fix, it requires a full update of the website to fix.

                      This link EXPLAINS the issue.

I'm not saying this will work, just curious as to a workaround. Have you guys tried using SHIFT ENTER, or the enter key on the numeric keypad (if your device has one)?

                          Hi Ed

This is a trial of your "Shift (y) method

                          …………………and yes it works.

Of course I'll have to remember to do it!

I take on board what you say but most folk here will use either Win PC or MAC. It used to work OK so, in the site reorg, someone has missed something. I assume that access to both types of system are available to the development team so a simple trial with each would quickly have found the defect . Maybe the original change was a case of " if it ain't broke don't fix it" ?
