Anyone know if spares are still available for this torch. It uses mapp gas etc.

I need either a new ignite complete or a length of heat proof wire to carry the spark up to the nozzle. I've tried various wires but they keep burning back on the insulation so clearly it needs to be much more heat resistant.

I also need a new turbo nozzle for it as the one I have got damaged beyond repair after being dropped.

              .

Many domestic gas fires use piezo ignition and the wire appears to be sheathed with PTFE and a woven Glass Fibre overcoat ['though my "analysis" may be completely wrong] … It might be worth checking for suitable wire with your friendly local Gas Fitter.

I think they have a short bit of ceramic insulation near the tip. A wire could be made from stainless steel wire, with ceramic beads over the hot end, and fibreglass insulation tube over the lot.

Hi Bodgit, I think you will find the "wire" is Tungsten possibly/probably with a ceramic cover or support.

Too late now but I took an old Gas oven to the tip yesterday, about 3 ft. of suitable wire and insulated. Took all the piping and connectors. Also had 6 ignition tips, but I could not get them off easily. Worth asking around.
