      Hi

As my collection of blunt drills is getting ever bigger I was considering investing in a Titan HSS drill bit sharpener , sold by Screwfix. Has anyone had any experience of using these and do they give reasonable results.

      Cheers Mike

To be blunt ( pun intended! ) they are absolute sh****

I had the Clarke equivalent….there's no way if ensuring both facets are ground the same….gave it away…!!

Save your hard earned and buy the Sealey SM 2008…that was what I bought…

There are several 'brands' of this grinder, just with different badges and black plastic or grey.

Don't pay more than 50 something for it.

Don't force it – people on here have complained about the wheel not lasting.

Personally, I have the Holzmann version because they sell them 10 miles from me.

I thinks it's fine, but I only use a light touch as there's no cooling method, rather than shove it in like my life depends on the fastest sharpened drill ever.

I have the Clarke version, as said above, don’t use too much pressure and a bit of a wiggle and I have had some very good results out of it, wouldn’t say it is as good as a new bit as the edge doesn’t seem to last as long, but well worth the saving on new drill bits.

The Potts drill grinding jig is extremely good as it corrects the point geometry for each size of drill . I don't think anyone sells it ready to use but a kit and drawings are available from Hemmingway's . You do need the kit and ability to work to close angular limits it you have a go at one .

Hello all, I was recently given one of the Clarke drill sharpeners as a gift, still had the price on it, £24 . I thought it wouldnt be much good because it was " junk " ( thats what it says on the internet !!!), but it actually works well.

                      Hi,

Years ago I purchased a USA made Drill Doctor 300, BEST WORKSHOP TOOL I EVER PURCHASED !

If I have a blunt drill, it takes the Drill Doctor less than one minute to to sharpen to a accurate sharp finish.

I will be upgrading to a Drill Doctor 750X soon to expand the size and type of drills I can sharpen eg Split point drills
