Like a lot of people I buy second hand engineering gear from Ebay and for the most part I'm happy with what turns up at my door. But, hand on heart, I know a good proportion of it will have been "acquired" from various individuals/companies without their permission.

This situation is quiet a dilemma, because I would not buy such goods as I buy if offered to me by the proverbial 'bloke in the pub' on the grounds that the likelihood is it's stolen. But, I'm prepared to accept the word of someone who I don't know but owns a camera phone and a computer and can open an Ebay account and take him/her to be a honest dealer.

I shall now go to the police station and hand myself in as a receiver of stolen goods.

Back to the good things coming out of the Covid 19 virus: Best thing coming out of it this week was Trump supporters trying to follow his advice to cure Covid by ingesting bleach. But they could not get the child-proof tops off the bottles.

I just don't get this continued Banggood, Ebay knocking!

Don't buy cheap stuff and then be surprised if it turns out to be total crap!

          .

          +1 for that, Jim

A realisation that there are advantages in being self sufficient, and not relying on other countries to control our food, water, power, and material needs.

Yes, we need raw materials, but there was a time, a long time ago, when Britain could manufacture things. Yes, and a lot of air pollution as well, before anyone mentions it!

Would you rather fix that water leak, or wait until a plumber has time to come round, next week, and do a simple soldering job?

Hopefully, we may even find that we have attributes that we had forgotten, or did not even know we had.
