By hiring a suitable generator you do not have to worry about maintenance, Here in Medway there is a local Genny hire firm who supply Hospitals with standby genniies.

Also supply to the local shopping center.

Or, buy surplus and couple them up to get the power you want.

The NHS generally has a bottomless budget, farmers tend to have none wink 2

Have you ever tried extracting money from a farmer?

LOL! I have actually, I've sold a few grazing licences in my time, it can be done… just!

But they always leave you feeling they are doing you a favour!

The farm I worked on had 85ft high silage towers which used an enclosed fan unit to blow the material up the tube on the side of the tower, into the hatch in the top. The suppliers of the fan told us we needed a fifty horse electric motor to drive it, or a similar engine. We ended up, after trying three different tractors, using a 116 hp tractor, and that struggled!

The other bit of fun was climbing up the ladder in the morning and night to open and close the hatch on the top, being careful not to breathe too much gas out of the tower.

I purchased a 13,750kw Propane Generator from Central Maine Diesel a few years ago.

20 HP Honda engine, Italian generator head.
Paid about $2300 plus shipping via Paradise Freight which was a few hundred.
I see the price is just a bit higher now… But the one I want most is Cummins which i saw from a website.

Recently it blew a capacitor. Central Maine sent me 2 for the price of one even though it is out of warranty. $39 total for two.

I looked at generators on island but a similar Honda at Quality electric was close to $6000 and it wasn't even a 13750kw. More like 8 or 9000kw if I remember right…..

They have many generators at great prices but this is the one I settled for.

Quiet, no smell, propane lasts forever……..

I wonder if there might be confusion here between different conventions for what, in UK, we call the decimal point. Others use (or at least, used to use) a comma for this function. So in one system 13,750 means the same as another system's 13.75. Yes, it is stupid, and the promoters of the Metric System should be ashamed for letting it happen.

                Regards, Tim

                  .

Quite so, Tim … That's why I made the comment.

If Shelley does mean thirteen and three quarters, then the 'product' is irrelevant to this thread.

… If 13750 then the engine power [and presumably the price] is misquoted.
