      Just for clarification, it is 'the label manufacturer' who asked his sub-contract manufacturer – SIEG to put the watts on the label as you see in the picture provided.

      SIEG – the original manufacturer has always stated 'output' power as 250 watt for their original C2 mini-lathe spare part.

      The 'manufacturer' in the picture chose to call it 400 watt, based on some kind of interpretation by him of 'input' power. Similarly, the 'manufacturer' – Clarke – Machine Mart, chose to specify the same motor as 300 watt. Neither state that it is their interpretation of 'input power'. Excluding Axminister-SIEG range, many of the other 'manufacturers' of these type of machines use the same 'marketing philosophy'.

        Hi Ketan, it did cross my mind that the label could be based on input power, I know you always quote output power for your machines, it would be better if all suppliers did the same. My CJ18 (brushed motor) lathe is listed as 500 watt and a couple of recent tests have shown it to be not too bad for power but it wouldnt surprise me at all to find its output is more in the region of 350-400 watts.

            thanks Ketan, for the clarification and data on my machine. i was sure that the number states for a date of manufacture. regarding the return policy, i have no problems with this and i fully understand Your practice. however, this is an ARC politics and it can be discussed if it is the best one or not… i personally think that a politic which is more customer friendly will result in greater profit for the seller in a long term. but we all know that there are a lot of strange customers You have to deal with them… lidel in croatia have a practice to put a 3 year guarantee on all hobby equipment they sell- bring the tool and bill back, you get the money. i am sure that this is a wise marketing practice!

            regarding VAT free, it will be a pity for me not to use this ability. i run a business, and a state provided me with this ability to purchase tools used for servicing equipment i use at work. a mini lathe is a nice tool, but this is a hobby tool that is not intended for prolonged use in metal working environment. when you push it hard, you see what happen (a boroken motorsmiley). i bought i bigger lathe for harder work, and the mini lathe will be cleaned and used periodically, it deserve a new motor for the years i used it..

              i tried again to finalize my purchase. i reached the step where i have to agree with "pay 178gbp now". i suppose i will be charged the full amount. i have not seen any place to enter my VAT number???

                    hi Neil,

                    yes i have red this. i go trough the checkout, i select the card and i reach the "pay now 178gbp" button. as i understand, if i click, my card will be automaticaly charged the whole amount..?

                    i dont see any place for VAT registration details
