Hi folks,
I just bought a grizzly tools face mill and mt3 arbor and upon mounting discovered that it hits the nose piece before the taper engages. It looks like it needs about .020" more room to engage. The nose piece has three vertical slots around the periphery that I originally assumed were for driving the facemill that would have come with the mil 35 years agol. Back when I purchased the machine I assumed the nose was part of the spindle but now I see what looks like chamfers going in the wrong direction meaning it might be a separate part. It has under cuts on the interior that collect swarf and I'd sooner see it gone than not. I know there are a few Rexon and Naerok owners here so figured I'd post and see. Can't get the pic off of my phone to show the rest. Doesn't budge so I may just hard turn it until the face mill arbor fits. It looks like a nose protector and has a slight wobble and my thinking is that it might be an extractor for larger diameter tooling (like a facemill) , but maybe I'm off base.
Cheers,
