        I just saw today an Unimat 7 in good working condition. It has also the original bench. The cost is half of HBM180. Hard to choose. Above 700RPM it is quite noisy because it has gears in the headstock. I never saw an HBM180 in real life but from the videos I think it is more quiet. I know the benefits of change gears but I like also silence. Hard to decide …

          I have the Warco equivalent of the HBM180 – the motor is very quiet, the gears to the leadscrew are steel, and quite noisy when engaged. I’ve fitted mine with an electronic leadscrew so the gear noise is eliminated (and screwcutting is far less hassle).
