Myford V Boxford

Actually reading the Myford lathes user group quite taken aback by the fact myford want 8K for a new or remanufactured Super 7

As im selling on my V10p and just having witnessed a Boxford 330 go for 900 quid on ebay (gutted to say the least)

It piqued my interest to phone boxford in Halifax and enquire as to just how much a new 280 would cost

8600 QUID for a new UK manufactured lathe and their order books are full im told by orders from the NEW University training colleges

This is good news in my book as it seems there is investment going on in engineering and you can buy a damn fine machine for your money

Im wondering which company i would spend that kind of money with

Same old "not my money" syndrome. Whether Defence, Education, Health, IT when there is a lot of someone else's money sloshing around there are people who will spend it without a question of whether it can be done cheaper. I am not questioning whether it is value for money, which it might just possibly be, but whether the actual application really justifies that level of quality.
