      .
      Use a UPS/DHL reseller such as Parcel2Go etc. […]

      .

The last parcel that I received from someone who used Parcel2Go was delivered by Hermes

      MichaelG.

Yes,,, Michael,,,, they offer services from many companies. Thanks for letting me know in your typically smug fashion.

      .

No smugness involved … it was just a simple statement of fact, which I thought might be of interest.

If we’re discussing the performance of Hermes [and ways to avoid], it’s probably relevant.

      MichaelG.

      .

P.S. ___ Please feel free to explain how I could have made the point without offending you.

Good news, the tap was delivered today, don't know whereabouts in the system it was and I don't care, the point is that it's safe.

Not related to Hermes but relevant to deliveries; have been waiting for an item to be delivered that was ordered from Amazon, was due by 26th May but failed to arrive, tried more than once communicating with the seller but was ignored so requested a refund, Amazon emailed today that they were refunding the cost of the order.

The world has truly gone mad.

Hermes (through eBay's packlink) put their price up to £4.36 for a 2kg parcel the other day.

Now UPS have lowered the cost of their next day service to £3.75 for 5-10 Kg

                  Obviously I am not complaining.

The postman has just delivered a small package from China that was ordered over 3 months ago, so there is still hope for anyone else waiting for a delivery from China. I had given up any hope of receiving the item so am well pleased.

A bit off topic but, in December last year I ordered a pair of side cutters (came with two spudgers as a free gift) from Aliexpress. Parcel was delivered by RM Tracked 48 last week. I had long forgotten my order although had received several emails (in an account I rarely check) although one day after the parcel arrived I had an email to my main account saying the order was cancelled!

Side cutters are fine and were cheap.

I have always been happy with Hermes. One thing I do know is that every courier company bar none, will sooner or later will have a problem with some shipment. I suppose the only real difference between them in that case is how well thy deal with it.

Just had an email from Hermes asking what the problem was !!!

From the email address it looks as though it was my message to Martijn.deLange@hermes-europe.co.uk did the trick because the parcel turned up the day after it was sent.

On Wednesday evening I placed an online order with Rymans, it was despatched yesterday and received at 13.00 today all tracked with Hermes.

                          Nothing to complain about there!

There has clearly been a massive backlog in the systems, and especially in the USA, parcels finally arrived having been tracked out of Heathrow to a pile in a warehouse in Chicago, my partner had to remake and reship two entire consignments owing to significant damage to well packed items which arrived smashed and unusable.

Shipments from China are running at around 3 weeks, some having taken 8-12 weeks not long back. I've been avoiding the UK dropshippers on eBay that are just fronts for AliExpress and going straight to the source having realised I was propping up their 600% markups. I just have to be a bit more patient..

Has anybody found an email address for Hermes? We have sent a parcel and being given a card from the shop who took it. The card number starts with a p and neither the digital assistant nor the voice recognition system on the phone number accept this number. I cannot find a way to contact Hermes without a code which they recognise, but which they have not provided.

                                    Thank you.

Been waiting two weeks for a tool that was being delivered by Hermes. Despatched to an industrial estate address Hermes first tried to deliver it on a Saturday !!!. Then the next tracking message was that I had asked for it to be returned to sender ???, I don't know who they asked but it wasn't me. A week later and it has arrived, at the senders address. Not impressed with Hermes as the tool was for a specific job, that I have now had to do by an alternative (much less professional) means.

There is a distribution centre for Hermes in our yard at work.

It is a free for all every day and all types of vehicle and people fill the yard and try to load parcels into their vehicles.

We have watched stuff being crammed into their vehicles stuff dropped presumably breaking the items inside. The company is a shambles.

Personally and professionally we would never use them

Up till now, I have had no trouble with Hermes deliveries, but yesterday I had cause to contact a seller on ebay about a delivery which was overdue. The seller has 1200 transactions and 100% positive feedback. The package was estimated to arrive between 5th and the 9th of June. When the seller checked with Hermes, they told him that it had been signed for on the 4th, which he doubted was likely. He is currently struggling to sort out lost Hermes parcels. Since lockdown deliveries have been left without signatures, and we certainly did not sign for anything that day. Until my bank statement comes in, I cannot be sure if we were out shopping for an hour that afternoon or not. As I take some time to get to the door if the doorbell rings, I frequently miss the delivery which is dumped on the doorstep. The doorstep is not particularly easy to see from the road, so opportunist thieves are not very likely. Its yet another shame that the CO19 changed the delivery rules, before the lockdown, the Hermes man used to put unsigned for deliveries behind the side gate, after reaching over it and unlocking it, and relocking it afterwards.

I always now ask sellers to NOT use Hermes. For a period of time the individual with the final stage delivery contract for our rural area was someone from the traveller community. A battered estate car would roll up and while the driver dealt with handing over the parcel, 3 other individuals would get out and quickly scout around the outbuildings, look over fences, etc. Clear intent to come back another time to nick anything tasty. When challenged they all strangely were looking for somewhere to have a quick leak – yes, I really believed that! Neighbourhood watch did the police liaison bit and a more reliable delivery lady took over. She has been good for whenever Hermes was unavoidable.

For me, Yodel is another one to take serious effort to avoid. Unfortunately the Dutch postal system seems to favour them for carrying this side of the channel.

I have just had an email from the ebay seller, Hermes have just admitted that it is still at one of their depots. There's hope yet.
