      Hello,

I recently acquired an old Grafton 12" rotary table, I'd guess it's pretty old judging by the style of handle which is pretty flat, but realistically have no real idea. It's 120:1 ratio and the dial is 5" I don't know the weight but it's probably around 55-60 kg using the "arm weighing scales", a little bit of damage but a pretty decent bit of kit.

I'm just wondering who Grafton were, and how old it's likely to be.. a google search doesn't show much.

      – just using it to make an index plate at the moment.

In a thread from 2015, Old School mentioned having bought an 8” Grafton

… so might have some information to share

Grafton were a US machine tool manufacturer, Drill presses by them are quite common in the UK, rotary tables less so. I have a drill press.

I bought an 8” Grafton rotary table 5 years it has been used a lot with no problems at all. I think it spent most of its life in a cupboard and got a coat of paint occasionally.

Don`t know anything about Grafton, but that drill press looks very much like a Atlas.

                Maybe some badge engineering?

Well maybe, but it has Grafton cast into the side of the body, and a google on Grafton drill press does come up with my rebuild video, and quite a few for sale ads, so whilst maybe not common, they are about. Judging in the age of the starter, it could be a wartime import.
