OMG, regarding your query about changing computer in the future ……

Thanks, Jason – that clears it up.

On a side note, has anyone tried to read the Eccentric Engineering ad on an iPad? (It can be done, of course, but not the intuitive way).

        .

Just tried it now, and everything seems surprisingly normal

        … What are you finding non-intuitive ?

The EE ad is printed upside-down. My normal reaction is to turn the page (in this case the iPad) upside down to read it – which is fine if the iPad is horizontal …..

Sorry if I am missing an Antipodean joke; but it all looks fine to me.

              … see previous post.

The EE advert displays correctly in whichever iPad orientation.

… Original series iPad, running iOS 5

O.K. Guys, I give up … this is my last post on this thread.

                MichaelG.

                .

Before anyone picks-up on this ^^

I trust that I will be forgiven for trying to assist OMG

Ah, I see the confusion (my error) in two senses:

                  1. I meant the ad in the magazine (wasn't clear there was I?). This is printed upside down …. presumably as one of those weak (and frankly annoying) attempts to get you to read it. If you look at this on an iPad model with gyroscope (second gen and above) and turn the iPad upside down to read it, the page flips 180 deg at the same time leaving the ad still upside down.

                  2. I'd forgotten that original model iPads didn't have the gyro so the effect wouldn't show on them.

Apologies to all for the time-wasting. It wasn't that I needed help to read it (I can turn off the gyro or lay the iPad horizontal) but rather a weak (very as it turns out) attempt at humour and to point out that EE apparently hadn't allowed for the "iPad effect"

No problem … I'll go back to sleep.

I thought it might have been an HTML problem

specific to some particular iOS / Safari version.

P.S. original iPad does have Gyro [but not Compass]

                        3-Axis Accelerometer, not Gyro.
