I'm surprised at all these complaints! Just slap the tin in the 4 jaw and part it off!

Not a lot of good if it is a can of soup!

Obviously in that instance you would use your vertical turret lathe. smile

I just wish the dogmeat-style pull-tab cans would catch on more.

Slow speed, and a saucepan that will fit between lathe bed and can, would be the order of the day for soup.

Corned beef tin / 4 jaw – no problem as long as you don't mind THUNKA THUNKA THUNKA THUNKA noises…..

Catch on more what? sweater sleeves? Lathe chucks? wink

Neil, ring pulls on cat food and pilchard tins are a no-no. The lid flips up and flicks fish gravy in your eye!

All the foregoing must have been tried 'cos the tin opener wasn't invented till 48 years after the tin plated can!

One of the funniest bits of English prose is chapter 12 of Three Men In A Boat – on the subject of tin openers.

It's not a 3 ton boxford mill darling

It's a lifetime guarantee can opener
