Now if I replace the upper hose with a rigid pipe, how would I adjust the MC angle, how would I adjust the handlebar angle, how would I change the handlebars? And then there is the aesthetics: This system fits in with the design of the bike. Maybe, not to everyone's liking, but I haven't built to please everyone, just me!

A rigid pipe would have enough flexibility to allow handlebar and lever adjustment. Changing the bars would, most likely, need a new pipe, flexible or otherwise.

Anyway, looking forward to the next installment!

My pennyworth is simply that if someone fits unannealed copper washers, then the joint is likely to leak. Annealing them first makes a world of a difference: as I found with the oil feed on my motorbike.

When I first looked, I mistakenly assumed that the manifold supplied twin discs. The braking would be crisper if it was ditched and a single hose used.

Has anyone considered that the problem 'banjos on commercial fuel filters' might be a lot to do with the design and material used on fuel filters (nothing like brake pressures, of course) rather than the idea of a banjo itself?
