We all know [don’t we?] that Bench Grinders should use induction motors.

It therefore came as some surprise to find this:

I don’t think I will be asking him to service mine [!] but the first few minutes show Black & Decker’s very interesting design.

A universal AC/DC motor at 4000 rpm. Noel.

I’m with Michael on him not servicing anything I have.

Interestingly I recently inadvertently watched a video of a Youtuber servicing/repairing a mains electric lawnmower.

After reassembly he commented on how the carbon brushes were sparking, so he was going to oil them!
