Bench top surface grinder

I know they’re as rare as hens teeth but I’ve been looking for a small bench top SG for the last couple of years.
I haven’t got the room or need for a full size one but I have seen in the past small SG that watch makers and other people that make small parts would use.

Apart from on line auction sites are there any machinery dealers I might be lucky and find one?

My Union tool & cutter grinder works reasonably well as a surface grinder for the few odd jobs that I need to do.

Unfortunately they are not that easy to find second hand, but hey do turn up now and again. I made a bespoke head for mine so I could run the wheels at a faster speed, and it also fits the cross slide of the Myford if I need to do cylindrical grinding.

This shows it grinding accurate angles on the segments of my model mill engine flywheel.

This shows it set up on the lathe, it would obviously not be used without some protection from the grinding dust.

The Stent tool and cutter grinder has a lever operated table so may act as a small surface grinder. Castings are available from Blackgates. **LINK**

Mine came free from work. They were selling a Bridgeport to a dealer and he had agreed to dispose of the Union T&C grinder for free, only I offered to do the same job and whisked it away before he turned up. Complete with all the fittings and adaptors some of which were still in the protective grease from new. Too good a chance to miss so I consider myself very fortunate.
