      Hiya every one.

i am looking for a belt conversion kit for the X2 milling machine so that I can ramp up the speed and it's quieter.

I have seen the plans to make your own but I don't have the capacity to make the pulleys.

Does any one know who sells a complete conversion kit or can make one.

      cheers guys and gals

            Hi Rebekah,

The kit from LMS works well but if you go to their website and look it up you will find at the bottom of the page 2 windows named Chris's tips and another called compatibility which you can click on to find if it will fit your machine or not .

Some machines are genuine sieg some are clones and there may be some minor differences , and if you are still unsure send the an E-mail as they are excellent to deal with (usual disclaimer etc) .

I'm not sure if ARC do one and if they don't maybe they should look at supplying them .

              Hi Rebekah

I bought a gas spring conversion kit from LMS @12 months ago for my SX2. Excellent service. Don't forget the import tax, which from memory was @ £15.

              Bob..

                Hi

i wouldn't swear to it but I seem to recall that someone said that SPG Hinckley do them. May be worth an email.

I have seen reference to a set of drawings to make a two speed belt conversion on a Yahoo group but have not been able to find them. You may not wish to make your own but it might be good to see what is involved if any one can tell us where they can be found.

There are also some kits listed on Ebay at the moment.

                    John,

If you PM me with your email address, I have a pdf file of the plans that I can send you. They were circulated by Jerry Rollet, originally on a Yahoo! forum, I understand, so they are in the public domain. Never been a member of Yahoo! myself and I can't remember where I got them from, either, or I'd post a link for all to see!

Just how different is an X2 with a belt drive? Is it a 'mandatory' upgrade?

I can attest to the comments made.

Not all mini mills are the same.

I made the belt drive for my Chester Conquest based on Jerry Rollet's plans and found that there were dimensional differences….So ended up making changes on the fly….

None the less, the conversion is very worth while and satisfying

                              Hi Rebekah

This is my first post so bear with me if it all goes wrong

I fitted a belt drive kit earlier this year and was very pleased with both the kit and the resulting performance.

The kit was from Turkey and is available on e-bay. Search for SIEG x2 mini mill belt drive conversion

I have added (hopefully) a couple of photos on the album.

Fitted at the same time was a gas strut to replace the torsion spring and this works a treat. The strut was ref GS6-15-260-300 with a 10mm Ball stud from SGS Engineering UK – and was set for 40Kg if I remember correctly. It was a little overlength so I fitted an angle bracket to lift the top fixing point up a little as per the photos. I also fitted the longer rack from LMS to take advantage of all the extra travel.

Also fitted was a set of Angel Eyes LED's to provide a good light onto the work surface and the driver for these was attached to the rear of the control box.

                              Hope this is of interest

                              Stuart
