Hello all
Although I’ve been reading the workshop magazine for … oh gosh … is it several decades, I’m only now venturing into the world of online forums. When I emigrated from Canada to France almost 5 years ago I had to leave behind my beloved Myford Super 7, big bore, long bed (bought new from the original Myford Ltd. just before they went out of business). Now that I finally have a workshop again, I have been looking for a somewhat bigger lathe to replace the Super 7. I have recently purchased a Leinen MLZ4S that left the factory in 1969. Although it’s very dirty, it seems to be in excellent condition. Before I left Canada I volunteered for a museum, working at home and in the “rail shop” making and repairing parts for their steam and diesel trains, to say nothing of lawn mowers, other vehicles, etc. Otherwise, I made a lot of tools, including Hemingway kits, so I could make more tools. Now, however, the first challenge is to get my workshop set up. I have a pressing problem, but will post that as a separate topic.
I’m looking forward to being in contact with this group. I know … I should have moved to the UK to pursue this hobby, but, well, here I am in France …..
