Hi, unfortunately I've broken my lathe, nothing serious just broken one of the key sleves on the gears. I've spoken to warco and they are not getting any for at least 10 weeks. Anyone know anywhere else that might have some, or someone got a load of spares that might like to sell one. Many thanks for your help

      Dan

Hi I’m not familiar with those machines but I presume you mean the keyed bush used on change wheel gears ? If so it’s quit possible that other suppliers of similar machines may have the same part? Chester, Engineers Toolroom, Amadeal etc

          Or just make one !

Afternoon Dan. Are you able to post a picture of the component in question? I've converted my 250vf to have an electronic leadscrew so I no longer need the change wheels and spacers.

Dan, I can't speak for the 250 as I have a 280 but have you looked in the toolbox as mine had a spare in there plus an extra spacer.

If you don't have a spare then you could turn up a round sleeve and just drill through the pair of gears for a pin rather than trying to form the integral key., it would do as a stop gap to give you feeds unless you are intending to do a lot of screw cutting of various pitches until the new one arrives.

I assume its the sintered one on the right

                Hello Dan

If you’d like to get in touch with us at Amadeal, we keep them in stock.

                Just need to check dims.

                Hugh

Or possibly file a keyway and have a separate key?

Hugh at AMADEAL has responded to your other post on this subject, saying that he has them in stock!

                    So contact him.

Might be worth laying a spare or two while you are about it.

Since they are a stock item, you are not alone in your troubles.

                    Howard

They also come with the 250v as I found them in the tool box that came with mine

You really ought to be able to make one in the time it-takes to fire up the pc. Turn the tube ,slot it ,silversolder key in fit it and carry on playing

That's my plan for the slightly butchered ones on my lathe. Although I'll only solder the keys if Loctite doesn't work.

I've already made new studs out of an old aircraft bolt that are a much better fit.
