8×30 VMC quill bearings

G'day, I have a second hand (ex uni) taiwanese 8×30 milling machine of the "mini-knee"/VMC configuration- similar to this one:-

Things have been going quite well as I have got the "feel" of machining some t-nuts and other bits. The blot on the landscape came when running at the fastest speed (a bit less than 3000rpm). after a while the quill bearings overheated and the mill wouldnt come up to speed. No nasty noise. All seems OK when cooled down. I plan to strip and replace the bearings and have had some kind advice from Grizzly on what to do on their very similar machine. Anyone else have some guidance for me??
