Hello I have a live-locomotive. Can everybody help me to know more about the history of my Lok.!? If I know how I can post some pics, I will do it. Eric
The prototype 80015 was introduced into service on 15/09/1951 being built at BR Brighton Works. It was sheded at 75F Tunbridge Wells West until that shed closed in 1963, where it was transferred to 70A Nine Elms shed. The loco was withdrawn from service in 07/1967.
Hi Eric – without more to go on such as boiler stamping I doubt anyone will be able to help. Look for numbers and letters stamped into the boiler? Someone might then point you in the right direction
I think you will find that Cyril hammond was a member of the Tonbridge Model Engineers and I think he wrote an article on the construction of the locomotive in the Model engineer. If I was you I'd get on to one of the model engineer index sites and find the issue etc.
He built a number of Southern prototypes, a couple of Schools, River tank etc.
Congratulations Eric, it seems you have more information on your loco than most people can get, coutesy of Model Engineer. Note the distinctive makers plate in the same position:
