          Hi There
If you take too long to type in your post you may get timed out.
If you are typing in a long post, copy it before posting it.
Then, if it does not appear you can paste it back in and have another go.
Better still, compose the post in notepad and then past it in.
          regards David

            Hi David
Could we get rid of these blink blink adverts as I do my utmost to ignore them they do my eyes no favours. This would solve the problem. They only take up recources on our computers. Some of your young website designers may think it COOL but I amoungst many others find it totally irritating. I do find them distracting and wish I could switch them off, but I am sure your bean counters would think otherwise.
Thank you and your team for a great Sunday at Sandown.

            Regards

            Bob.

              I will second that.

It is spoiling my enjoyment of the website, to the point where I think twice about bothering to look now.

If I want to buy something I am intelligent enough to be able to look for a website to find what I need myself.
I do not need it force feeding every time I look at this website.

I dont suppose my opinion will count for much though.

              Phil

                Hi There
I think they are there to say.
Funny though, unless someone complains about them, I don’t see the flashing images.
I think I must just block them out.
                regards David

Move the page window over to the right and they disappear off the edge of the screen.

Use Adblock – it will block all these adverts – find it through Google

Not to teach anyone to suck eggs but have you tried Firefox as a browser? (it’s free) and it has a free “plug in” called Adblock Plus which lets you select what you want to see.

Aye I’ll second that, run down the list once creating a filter for each ad, and they will be gone forever!

If it was’nt for the ads flashing or not, we would’nt have this site what ever anyone thinks of it, it’s quite OK by me. The only time (rarely) they annoy me is when the main text gets buried, usually under the ads on the right side. Ian S C

How is it that Homeshopmachinist and Homeworkshop.org get by without so many flashing ads?

                                  Hi Ian,

The ads don’t have to be flashing to be effective. When did you last see a flashing ad in the mags? One flashing ad might be noticed but when they all do, it just gets annoying and slows down the loading time.

When I taught IT in schools the youngsters though it was really cool to have everything flashing and moving. Of course it just made everything annoying and rendered it difficult to concentrate on the content, which after all is the important stuff. It just seems that the folks who produce such ads have the same thinking process, perhaps they haven’t left adolescence yet.

I use an ad blocker and a Flash blocker and only allow the flash based applications as I need them.

                                  Regards

You are quite right Terry, it must slow the site, I suppose its the advertisers we should complane to, its they who are paying for the ads, perhaps they might get the message that if the ads don’t flash they may stay on site without being blocked. Ian S C
