Vertex HV4 Rotary Table

Hi all,

Just purchased the above and it does not come with decent lugs to bolt to a table.There are some weedy looking ledges that you could just about get a small clamp but not very good. Vertical position not much better.

Another annoying thing is that when you dis-engage the table via the cam system the collar hits the table before is dis-engaged.

I have thought about purchasing a steel or alloy plate 6″ square and bolt the table to that by drilling and tapping (Both Horiz and Vert) but i thought i may as well ask you more experienced guys for a tip or too! At least with a plate i can overhang the cam system!

I have a similar rotating table (looks to me to be a copy) bought from RDG tools.

With it I have exactly the same problems You refer.
I had to use it with dividing plates wich have a larger diameter than the collar of the cam system which made the things worst.
As a rapid solution I found the 3-2-1 blocks to be very useful. I used two of them chosing the most convenient disposition in order to keep the most possible support for the rotary table.

I have a 150mm rotary table (also looks to me as being a copy of a Vertex) which is very good but is also too havy for me and I only use it when I have to.
Like You, I would like a better, more stable solution but I think any solution being more stable would also be heavier. So I think I have to “live” with the 3-2-1 blocks or some other modular solution so not to increase the wheight of the rotary table.
I must add that using the 3-2-1 blocks allows me to position the rotary table in alignment with the tee slots so I can use the lugs in a less unconfortable way.

I have one and use the weedy ledges with parts from one the the ubiquitous clamp kits you can get for milling machines.

I have added a register in the 10mm slot in the back so that it sits in the center T slot in my mill (that just happens to be 10mm) . I’ve just used a length of 10mm square ally bar and installed it extending over the edge so it can be used in both the horizontal and vertical orientations. It helps by getting the rotary table in the right place and stopping chasing it round the mill table when clamping it down.

So a a piece of ally 10mm x 10mm x 40mm and a 6mm cap screw and job done. Assuming you are using it on a mill you have the equipment to make it easily.
