I am making a copper boiler for a 5″ SPEEDY Loco. Plans say braze certain joints, but my gas torch is not quite powerful enough to get SIFBRONZE rods to flow properly on these. What is the considered opinion on using silver solders throughout the boiler construction ?

Also what comment on Reeves 2000 statement that cadmium bearing silver solders must not be used post 31 Dec 2011. Would this apply to non professional users such as Model Engineers ?

do NOT use sifbronze it will not flow and cause big problems , Please consult your boiler inspector prior to starting work you should use silver solder for all copper boiler work.

but to state again consult your boiler inspector over this matter

Strange, as LBSC specifically states SIFBRONZE to be used on several of the joints

With the greatest of respect LBSC comes out of the Ark. When that was written it was common for brazing/silver soldering to be done with a b****dy great parrafin blowlamp. Silver solder is the way forward. Indeed many Model engineers have silver soldered boilers only using easyflo2. As lordedmond has said speak with your club boiler inspector. Unless you are a skilled welder stay well away from sifbronze. The result will almost certainly be a boiler that leaks like a sieve and will be almost impossible to salvage if you persist with sifbronze.
