A friend who is miles apart from me, has dismantle his Myford super 7 lathe to give it a once in a life time clean, now he cannot get the lead screw back in position, passed the apron. Can any one who dismantle a Myford offer any explanation of what he should be doing. I have looked in my handbook where there is good exploded diagram, but no text. If a reader can help, please PM me with a phone number which I will pass on to George and he will call back.. John

I have had mine off once to adapt the RH end to fit a timing pulley. As far as I can recall it was very easy to re-fit, need to remove one of the bearing brackets depending on which way you want to feed it in. If it's not going past the apron the most likely reason is either that the half nuts are closed or they are misaligned. Did he dismantle the Apron too?

If it has power cross feed than also the keyway in the lead screw has to line up with the key in the bevel pinion. Niko.
