The VM-D was the final and largest version of the Rodney milling attachment, I believe it used a drive similar to direct drive surface grinders, ie 2 discs with 2 pegs each, the pegs engaging in 4 holes in a thick rubber disc held between the steel discs but fixed to neither . One disc on the spindle of the attachment, the other on a drive spindle on the lathe. If you can visualise that. Or I may have got it wrong, memory being what it is!

Different methods of attachment to the lathe spindle have been used for similar attachments, some using the taper and some the threaded spindle nose.   I had a lathe-powered hacksaw which used the threaded nose via a suitable arbour.

Hopefully an owner of a VM-D will turn up, but if not this may give you food for thought.
