Can anyone help? I am in th process of buying a second hand lathe RDG 250VSL I understand that these are very similar to the WARCO and CHESTER lathes. Are any other parts interchangeable? Ie sliding steady, four jaw chuck etc, I have contacted Chester and WARCO but they are not familiar with the lathe. If anyone has had any experience of these lathes any information would help.

        Thanks Dave

Yes they are basically the same design as the WM250 and DB10 of the time so the steadies would fit, not sure if Warco and Chester list them as sepparate items as they usually supply with the basic lathe. Have a look at Amadeal and Toolco who sell these parts as extras for some of their machines. I think RDG only did them for a short time just before they bought up Myford.

Chuckmounting may be slightly different but as you would have to machine a backplate anyway it should not be a problem to measure the flange fixing and make the backplate to suit. I'd go upto a 160mm 4-jaw chuck.
