What’s in a name?

I've recently received a second pair of emails offering me subscriptions to ME and MEW.

Both sets addressed me as 'Dear Franco'. I use an alias on this forum but the name behind it isn't Franco. Who should I tell so that this (small) wrong can be righted?

Have you confirmed that they were from mytime media ? ( i think that is who runs the show ) i never rely on anything that comes through emails for subs renewal especially links , i log in to this site and do it from there as there are so many scams out there now you never know where they are coming from . The fact that they got your name wrong would be a red flag to me .

Subs emails would not have come from the forum so will not use any user names, may be picking up something from when you took out the subscription with whoever was providing that service at the time.-

Suggest you reply to address the e-mail originates from or any contact e-mail within.

You will need to contact the sender of the email. It isn't crated using data off this website.

In each case the sender's email was as follows: offers@email.model-engineer.co.uk

Does it have a link for you to click to take up the offer? I would be very suspicious of that. Ask them for proof of identity by supplying some info they could only get if genuinely part of the organisation – like Neil's inside leg measurement

I was lucky enough to win either 4 or 5 million Euro [not sure which,as I get these things all the time ] on the Spanish Lottery. This surprised me since I dont even buy tickets for the Irish Lottery

Last year,I won the Mexican Lottery,can,t recall how many millions that was. For some reason payment seems to be delayed but as soon as both of them arrive,we,ll have a party,everyone is invited [just dont hold your breath ! ]

If I get any suspicious emails I usually take the trouble to look at the message header, find the X-Source IP address and look it up on the web for anything relating it to the company that appears to have sent the email.

If there's no matching data I look for blacklisted IP addresses and finally report the IP address to the abuse@[internet provider] usually listed on an IP search tool website.

If I get suspicious e-mails I just mark them as junk and delete them, much simpler. If they were genuine the sender will e-mail again or ring up.

I don't think there's ever been a question of the email not being legit.

It comes from the 'sign up to special offers' link at right, it just seems that Swarf's name is wrong.

A request to offers@email.model-engineer.co.uk should get it changed.
