I have ARC's Ball Bearing ER nuts for my ER 16 and ER 32 collet chucks, I am very pleased with them so far.

I also got the ER25 set and now think that the ER32 would have been better but mainly because I have MT2 on both the mill and the lathe and having the option to hold > 16mm stock would be nice. FWIW I have cutters larger thatn 16mm but with 16mm shanks.

Rather than a parallel shank ER collet holder you can get ones with R8 shanks which would probably be better.

Given the size of the mill I would go with ER32 on an R8 shank – one less item to give runout issues. Ball bearing nut.

Don't be in a hurry to get rid of the R8 collets they will come in handy when you run low on room under the quill or if you are using the same size ER collet to hold some work as the size of cutter you want to use.

                  Me too, easier grip, easier unfastening, also got … 1.0 – 2.5 mm collets & 1/8 – 1/4 imperial collets… just so I have them… in case…

First job for the mill is to make a bloody tripod.

At this rate we will have to run a competition for the most wobbly video.

The winner gets a Sooper Adapt lathe and the runner up gets two.

                                Try Arcsoft Videoimpression (free download).

                                arcsoft-videoimpression.jaleco.com/

Used to be given away free with webcams.

Instead of running round the workshop trying top video everything, take a short, steady clip of each point of interest, drop into videoimpression, crop out any excess/wobbly bits and use nice transitions over the joins. Then record you narration over the top.

Niiiice! quiet too, I assume that it is the belt driven version, my WM 16 is noisy but it has the plastic / metal gear driven head which would account for it… thumbs up

Here is a photo with the cover off showing the motor, the cover is plastic not metal which was a supprise.

I'm jealous, because my new WM18 was delivered by Warco last August, and it is still sitting on its pallet in my garage under a cover!

The Boxford 280 and Myford Super 7 lathes are also sitting there under sheets too, along with a Centec horizontal mill, and a Clarkson tool grinder……

Before I can set everything up and start using it I have to build a 4.8m long shed at the back of the garage (to remove a lot of the clutter from the garage, to make room for the machinery to be set out properly), plus build a new garage adjoining the existing one, so I can put the car in it.

Building the new garage doesn't affect setting up the workshop, except at the time of doing this I will rewire the existing one to take the machinery, so that is also holding things up.

So, a way to go yet before the place is up and running! sad

Following this thread with interest, I'm after a WM18 and from what I gathered I think I'll go for it. Would you mind if I asked you to measure the base attachment holes for me, diameter and distance apart? As I'll be shipping it and a lathe abroad I'm thinking of making the stands myself.
