      Hi all

I'm looking at upgrading my Chester Conquest mill to either the Warco Major of the WM16b is there any out there that I can get opinions for or against. After dealings with Chester I will avoid their offerings. Many thanks in advance

      Lionel

          Hi Lionel,

I have an old milling machine similar to the Warco Wm16b although mine has a brushed motor. The WM16b has a brushless motor that has more torque than mine. My milling machine has served me well for six years without any trouble.

The Warco Major is a round column mill and it is easy to loose centring if you have to move the head up/down the column. If you want something bigger than the Wm16b you might have a look at Warco GH18, almost the same price as the Major, and the GH18 has a dovetailed column.

            Hi Lionel,

I have the WM 16 just coming upto 1 year old and very happy with its capability as well as the length of the table

I liked the fact that it has the square column but also has the tilt facility, I had the extra long Table fitted to it

only negative is I wish i had fitted a power feed but maybe later I will

            cheers

Many thanks Thor & Trevorh for the feedback.I hadn't thought that hard about the round column but can now see it will be an annoyance to say the least, I discounted the GH18 due to the limited longitudinal traverse (360mm) I need min 400mm.

So I will be ordering the 16B – unless someone says differently!!!!

              Many thanks

              Lionel

                Hi Lionel,

Did you purchase the 16B and if so, what is your verdict?

Like Thor I have a WM16 with the long table, bought in 2012, so far it has served me well, I don't flog it with heavy d.o.c. so for me a good buy. Let us know how you get on with it.

                  George.
