Today, through the letterbox dropped ME&W 4766, July 2025 bringing the sad news of the death of Brian Wood.

He had an obvious great enthusiasm for devising gear trains to produce threads of various pitches, which he was happy to share with others.

In my contacts with him, he was always approachable, helpful, and always prepared to “Go the extra mile” to find a solution to a particular problem.

His passing is a loss to model engineering, and I am sure that he will be missed by many.

Bad news indeed.  Brian knew his stuff and went out of his way to help.  Hard to replace too – we are all the poorer.

Sorry to hear that. He was a lovely chap. Always affable and always helpful, in my dealings with him.

I never met him, but as others have said, he was the real thing, helpful to a fault !

Along with the late Harold Hall, he will be sadly missed.

These are the type of people who give us mortals the urge to carry on. What hope for us now ??

May he rest in peace .
