MYFORD SUPER 7

Hi all Help Have recently obtained a Myford super 7 with power cross feed. Whilst on my first play to get used to the controls, I pulled out the round knob on the apron to engage PCF and the slide comes towards me rather than in towards the work. What I have done wrong?

Hi Dudley,
I do not know the Super 7 lathe but I would guess that the tumbler reverse will reverse the crossfeed as well as the leadscrew direction.

Move the lever at the LEFT side of the headstock from the central ( feed disengaged) to the upper position. this will give saddle feeds towards the tailstock by engaging the lever on the apron or crossfeed inwards by pulling out the knob on the apron. ( Conversely moving the lever on the LEFT of the headstock to the lower position gives apron feed towards the headstock and crossfeed outwards. ( I made a little diagram with a marker next to the knob to remind me !)

(nb The similar lever at the RIGHT of the headstock is to engage the backgear and you must first move the little lever at the right hand end of of the drive pulleys to disengage the direct drive.)
